How to arrange laptop stickers: 6 layout ideas

The difference between a laptop that looks curated and one that looks cluttered is mostly spacing and size. Here are six layouts that work, how many stickers each one needs, and how to test them before you peel anything.

Before you start: mix sizes

Almost every good layout uses at least two sizes. A 10 cm sticker gives the eye somewhere to land, 7.5 cm stickers do most of the work, and 5 cm ones fill gaps. A 13-inch laptop lid fits roughly 6–10 stickers; a 15–16-inch lid fits 10–14.

Six layouts that work

  • The centrepiece: one 10 cm sticker slightly off-centre and nothing else. Minimal and it never looks messy. 1 sticker.
  • The corner cluster: 3–5 stickers grouped tightly in one corner, overlapping a little. Leaves most of the lid clean. 3–5 stickers.
  • The diagonal: stickers running from one corner to the opposite one, getting smaller towards the ends. 4–6 stickers.
  • The frame: stickers around the edges with the middle (or the logo) left clear. Good if you like the glowing logo. 6–8 stickers.
  • The theme wall: every sticker from one theme (coding, cats, memes) in a loose grid with even gaps. 6–9 stickers.
  • The full patchwork: the whole lid covered, stickers overlapping edges. Start with the biggest ones and fill inwards with small ones. 12–20 stickers.

Rules that make any layout look better

  • Rotate stickers a few degrees in different directions. Perfectly straight rows look stiff.
  • Repeat a colour two or three times across the lid so it feels connected.
  • Leave consistent gaps, or overlap on purpose. Almost-touching edges look like a mistake.
  • Keep the hinge area clear so stickers don't rub when the lid closes.

Test it before you peel

Lay the stickers on the lid on their backing paper and take a photo, or use our free sticker preview: upload a photo of your laptop and drag stickers onto it until the layout feels right.
